Monsieur le Marquis, aka JP my sweet husband , kept asking me to make a male version of my aprons … As I assume men don’t fancy flowers and birds that much ;) I cogitate a lot to find something manly with still my personal touch …
I came up with this Festival de Cannes - inspired apron … Cannes movie festival is pretty much a big deal here … As you can see I added a PALME D’OR ( golden prize) design … I thought it will be great -along with a matching towel and a card- as a gift pack … for Father’s day, or as a frenchie “kiss the chef” version …or for many other occasions. You can find it here, in my shop.
Personally I’ll give one to mon chéri …Jp , in the category, best husband ever … I give YOU the palme d’or …♥♥
Now comes the funny part … It’s pretty obvious it wouldn’t be appropriate to photoshoot my new item with a postage-stamp-sized girl … So, I asked Jp if he would accept being my apron model … he says “yes” … in his very direct manner …I use plenty of words, he always go straight to the point … We decided to do the big photoshooting on monday right after his work… He came back as early as possible as he knows how susceptible I am about natural light …
He had an work obligation after so we had a very little time. He arrived, went straight to the dressing room as it was the most important thing on earth… Then looked at his clothes and spent quite a while wondering which pants would be the best … which tee …As a very organized women (yes, I am …) , I already have taken care of this and gave him a few selections I made …as I want him to be part of the process …
He finally decided and then rushed toward the bathroom to have his hair done , to brush his teeth and to make sure everything was ok (even if I said we won’t see his face on the pictures).
and then he said : “ “where is the hat ?” scrutinizing around…
I was getting everything reading, the background, the camera etc .. and was not very focused.
once again “ Sabine, where is the hat ?”
”which hat ? ” I answered . .. at this point I realized what he was talking about …
”the cowboy hat “..
I looked at him with a nascent smile on my face …
oups. no. he is serious. I kept my smile for myself…
”well, there it is ” I said. but actually it is a cow…girl hat. it even has a little old rose strap…see …you don’t mind ?”
him : “mmm … it’s made of leather and we can barely see it. I think that’s ok …”.
I can tell you it has been very hard for me not to laugh … I had no idea he has that in mind. as if apron shooting = cowboy hat for him .isn’t that funny … ?
And then he was so funny and cooperating … we ended up laughing a lot and sharing a wonderful moment … he is always so enthusiastic about what I do. It is a blessing … I really feel lucky … Now have a look and you will understand …
and my very favorite :
note to self : have to find a cowboy hat for monsieur le marquis who obviously dream to stole mine :) :)
Mon amour, merci so much …

Love this post! Such a cute apron - are these for sale? My husband is a chef and would probably love it - mainly because the model is wearing a cowboy(girl) hat ;-)
Hee-hee! My husband is a former professional chef (now an informal chef at home...lucky me!) and he DOES wear a cowboy hat!

Ha ha ha! He is so cute! I love the last three where he really goes all out. For Halloween Ian went as a gay cowboy, so I know what it's like to have a man who loves the cowboy hats!
