{ public holiday and a lovely place }

balade series
Today, 8th of May, we celebrate Victory in Europe Day in France. V-E Day (or VE Day) was on May 8, 1945, the date when the World War II Allies formally accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Germany.

when I was much much younger, and still living in Normandy, I was traditionally spending the day with my grand parents … after the commemoration ceremony (official ceremonies are held in every city, town or village) my grand fathers took their uniform off and we all had lunch together . a few glasses of cider later, the old generation started remembering how the whole world seemed to go crazy this day with dancing, singing and parties in the street and celebration drinks. it was like kissing and hugging of complete strangers were the only right thing to do …

Today, I will share with you a place we recently (quite by chance) found…It’s actually not very far from our house and right next to a place we like walk on but on the other side of the hill …It’s definitely one of the place I would love showing to my friends, the Slate family…I am making a little list and this "balad" on my top 5 … do you think you would enjoy it ?

Oh so beautiful. That tree looks like the perfect place to set up a Saturday afternoon picnic.

This is absolutely heavenly...what a beautiful part of France! Where are you, exactly? I spent parts of my childhood in Brissac, l'Herault, Languedoc, where my grandparents lived.
