flowers and plants are flipping their horizon …

image

Have you seen the  Sky Planter, designed by Patrick Morris…They are quite popular on the web right now The idea is so cool and original : growing plants upside down inside your home or office. And the concept is very original too , using a ground breaking internal reservoir system to feed water directly to the roots. Which means  no water evaporates or drips. Of course the soil is blocked into the “pot”.

The Sky Planter is made of ceramic . for the anecdote, the son of a New Zealand ceramics family, Morris chose his company name, Boskke, to invoke the word bosky, meaning a fledgling forest.

this “perle” is available @ Rockett St. George. It’s available in  different sizes, from £19.50 to  £59…

Just admire those gorgeous and stunning photo from Boskke site :

{ botanical inspiration }

gardening

I am in a sort of endless pursuit of inspiration …I mean I see inspiration everywhere … As I spent quite a lot of time gardening recenlty …it logically ends up with some botanical-inspired new etsy items… I was & I am in a bouton d’or yellow and olive green colors mood :)

Lately I’ve dug out Willi’s blog : Digginfood . Each post she wrote just left me speechless (which - I must confess - is pretty miraculous). My new collection is dedicated to her .Whether you have a big garden, a postal stamp-sized one, a balcony or you just want to swoop down some fresh , green original ideas that’s the place to go. Her DIY projects section abounds with clever tips.

I am very thrilled about the following projects. Especially the last one :
Inexpensive DIY Cold Frames
Super Sturdy Squash Trellis
Inexpensive DIY Vegetable Trellis

The April issue of modes et travaux magazine is overflowed with pretty useful and tailor-made ideas … for instance, growing ipomée (morning glory) or pois de senteur (sweet pea) on one side of an arch-shaped treillis , and cucumber on the other side.
Bbasically I always mix flowers and vegetables in my garden. some oeillets d’inde (French marigold), some miniture tagètes (tagetes) and of course de la lavande (lavender )… It’s not just aesthetic, it also offers several beneficial features that can protect your vegetables from insect pests and even make them more productive.

In the magazine, there is a longer list of flowers that are good friends of vegetables :
To attract pollinators : cosmos, larkspur, mints, sunflowers, sweet peas and zinnias.

To attract beneficial Insects that are good to have in your garden( like ladybugs, lacewings, ground beetles... As with every other insect, beneficial insects have certain preferences in plants. Interplant their favorite "dishes" and you’ll eventually have insects patrolling your sorry -but - don't - want - you - in - my - garden insects. Parsley, dill, coriander and flowers from the aster family are supposedly good for attracting beneficial insects.

I took a few pictures and made the original size available by clicking on them … just for you :)
